Abstract
Although surgery for acute pelvic inflammation is hazardous because of the bleeding occurs readily and hemostasis is difficult there still immediate operation becomes necessary in cases of ruptured abscess or large abscesses that do not pointing into the cul-de-sac or the patient¢¥s symptoms fail to improve over a period of 4 to 5 days despite medical regimen.
A case of large pelvic abscess fail to respond to the medical therapy eventually needed surgery. In the surgery the extensive oozing type bleeding was successfully controlled by high ligation of ovarian artery at the level of sacral promontory(corresponding side), superimposed shut off the terminal branches of uterine artery.
We believe that high ligation of ovarian artery is a simple life saving procedure in case of encountering uncontrollable bleeding during the surgery of pelvic abscess or similar other conditions. Ligation of hypogastric artery so far would not help such condition.
